On April 9, 2016 – the 2017 Lotus Evora 400 made a stop in Ontario, as part of its North American tour. This latest model from Hethel (UK) is expected to be in Canadian showrooms by July, but to help drum up some business early on, this new model is touring the continent.
The preview event I attended was held at Lotus of Oakville (Peninsula Imports) – the company’s newest retailer in Canada.
The stunning black example at the event was one of just two Evora 400 models currently in North America, and is a European spec car. So, driving impressions were not available to the media just yet – a proper launch event will take place next month, and I hope to bring you that story when its possible.
For now, what I can talk about is this cars’ spec. Powered by a Toyota-sourced 3.5L V6 (similar to the engine you’ll find in a Toyota Camry V6), Lotus adds an Edelbrock supercharger with a charge-cooling system to keep everything working efficiently. End result is a motor that produces 400 hp and 302 lb-ft of torque. That is enough to propel this 1,395 kg coupe from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.2 seconds, and on to a top speed of 300 km/h – making it the fastest road car Lotus has ever produced.
Canadian pricing is still not available, but I’ll bring you that information as soon as its revealed.
