Interesting Used Car Of The Week: 1997 McLaren F1 GTR Long Tail

2560_2If you like going to track days as much as I do, you’d have probably noticed, that there is just as much one-upmanship going on in regards to who brought what car, as to who had the fastest lap time.

The subject of this weeks “Interesting Used Car Of The Week” will ensure that you’ll remain pretty much unbeaten in both categories.

For sale by Kidston, is a 1997 McLaren F1 GTR Long Tail, that was once owned by the Gulf Team Davidoff. You can read all about its racing history through >>>This Link<<<.

2560_4Just imagine the jaws that will drop when you pull this one out of the trailer (it would be silly to drive it there, even if you manage to get it a road legal status).

Unless you’re at a McLaren organised event, chances of anyone else showing up in another F1 GTR (or any McLaren F1 for that matter) are pretty much nil – only 107 examples were made between road and race cars.

Chances of you getting beaten out on the track are pretty slim also – unless you’re a complete novice on the track – because powering this F1 GTR Long Tail is a 6.1L V12 made by BMW M. While the advert doesn’t mention what spec the motor in chassis no. 025R is, but at minimum it should have 627 hp – just as most of the production cars did. Thanks to all the aero work on the F1 GTR Long Tail, it will stay glued to the track, and will for sure be a real thrill to drive.2560_1

How much you ask? No asking price was given in the advert, but if you can get it for less than $10-million, it’ll be a bargain.

NOTE: While on Kidston.com, check out the “Films” sections, they have made some of the best automotive movies ever. Enjoy!
